Ajeeb Daastaans Review

3.5

More than Just 4 Twisted Tales of Love!

User Rating: 4.2 ( 1 votes)

Ajeeb Daastaans is another anthology of four twisted short stories under the production of Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta dwelling about revenge, love, entitlement, jealousy in span of 2 hours 20 minutes. Every story ends in a shocking revelation which itself is enough to watch these set of movies.

The whole cast of the film is powerful and talented which includes Jaideep Ahlawat, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Nushrat Barucha, Abhishek Banerjee, Aditi Rao Haidri, Konkana Sen Sharma, Manav Kaul and Shefali Shah. The film is directed by four sets of director Shashank Khaitan, Raj Mehta, Neeraj Ghaywan, and Kayzoe Irani.

The Film is all about four stories namely Majnu, Khilauna, Ankahi, and Geeli Puchi (Geeli Puchi being my favourite)

Majnu – The story is about an arranged marriage where both the couples are unhappy. Ultimately leading to infidelity in the relationship when the girl gets attracted to another man.

Khilauna – The story deals with the two sisters, the elder sister (Played by Nushrat Barucha) works as a housemaid for her livelihood with her small sister. They survive on the goodness of their employers. There is also a murder here, Watch the movie to know more!

Geeli Puchi – This is the best of the lot. The story is about a factory worker ( Konkana Sen Sharma) who found that her abilities are not getting rewarded as she is from backward class, her position was overtaken by some high class girl (Aditi Rao Hyadri).

Ankahi – This is about a Housewife who is asking her husband to learn sign language so that he can talk with her deaf daughter but the man continuously refuges to do so as he doesn’t have time due to the office work, in all between these She comes close to a deaf Photographer ended up making a relationship with him.

All the performances in the movies are amazing and powerpacked including the little ‘Inayat’ (the ludo kid). It justifies the title as there are plenty of Ajeebs and Daastaans ongoing over here.

I would overall rate it a 3.5 and definitely a must watch !
