What Works:

Himesh Reshammiya’s Badass Ravi Kumar sets the tone early with its “Logic Is Optional” warning. The movie channels the 80s with its unapologetic dialogue-driven drama and action sequences, delivering entertainment with a quirky flair.
The plot follows Ravi Kumar, a no-nonsense cop with a patriotic edge who bends the rules to take down villains. His biggest challenge comes in the form of Carlos, a dangerous gangster played by Prabhu Deva, who is after a high-security reel. Along the way, Ravi uncovers secrets from his past that add emotional depth to his mission.
Script Analysis:
The film doesn’t take itself seriously, and that’s what makes it work. Bunty Rathore’s dialogue embraces the film’s theme, with lines like “Jo Ravi Kumar se ulajhta hain, uske photo pe haar chadh jaata hain” defining the mood. While some moments are unintentionally funny, they only add to the charm.
However, the second half drags due to unnecessary song-and-dance sequences, particularly one involving Himesh and Sunny Leone. Though entertaining, these parts slow the pace and make the “Logic Is Optional” tagline harder to ignore.

Himesh Reshammiya brings his signature flair, blending charisma and swagger to command the screen. His larger-than-life performance keeps the energy high, while Prabhu Deva’s villainous act adds a fun, over-the-top dynamic. Unfortunately, the supporting cast, including talented actors like Sanjay Mishra and Johnny Lever, doesn’t get much room to shine. Simona J, as Himesh’s love interest, falls short in the emotional moments.
Direction and Music:
Keith Gomes successfully captures the nostalgic masala vibe with vibrant action sequences, even if the VFX is lacking at times. The background score hits the right notes, though most of the songs, apart from “Tere Pyaar Mein,” fail to leave a lasting impression.
The Verdict:
Badass Ravi Kumar is an unapologetic, logic-defying entertainer that knows exactly what it’s offering. Himesh Reshammiya’s star power and a heavy dose of mass entertainment will resonate with audiences looking for a fun time at the movies.
